In conjunction with the East Coast Music Awards, the Cape Breton University Art Gallery presents Seeing the Music: East Coast Photographers/East Coast Musicians, opening Friday, 4 to 6:30 p.m., and running to April 9. [source: thechronicleherald.ca]

The show includes works by Halifax photog and hip-hop scene documentarian, Kelly Clark, whose contribution to the exhibit includes a shot of Ghettosocks and of the mighty Treat-O-Tron™

Ghettosocks is Halifax's own Tony Bennett of the rap game. Putting the 'RA' back in 'RAP', Socks lyrically pushes, shoves, romances, and shoplifts his way on the mic. With a strong connection to the early '90s Hip Hop landscape, Socks explores fresh new terrain.

Founding member of Alpha Flight, known for his uncanny freestyling abilities, Ghettosocks has come of age with his first solo release, Get Some Friends. His follow-up release, I Can Make Your Dog Famous Mixtape, featuring the legendary DJ Jorun Bombay on the cuts, is the proving ground that Socks is the leader of a new breed of emcee. Socks' latest oeuvre is the pièce de resistance. Treat of the Day is a fresh 16-pack of brand-new, high-cholesterol songs, featuring special guests El da Sensei, Pumpkinhead, Edgar Allen Floe, Cesar Comanche, D-Sisive, Muneshine, Apt, and Timbuktu.
