The Treat-o-tron

We’ve been getting a lot of people asking us if the artwork for the packaging of “Treat of the Day” was real or photo-shopped. Here are some of the behind-the-scenes snapshots of the construction of the Treat-o-tron burger. It took around five hours time and $150 to build- making it not necessarily the most expensive burger out there, but certainly one of the most labor intensive to make.

Shout-outs to Evul on the build assist, Typicalgirl for the snapshots, and Jenocide for the moral support! This was definitely a fun experience, yet I think it will be quite a while until we build another one!

As you can see here, we used some plastic wedding cake pillars to give the Treat-otron a stable endo-skeleton. The ‘Bun’ was also made from to whole round loaves of bakery white bread.

Using toothpicks and excess chunks of bread from the hollowed loaves, we began to arrange the facade of the burger. Glasses and jars were also employed to provide counter-balance for the vacant half.

All of the ingredients used in the burger were real and edible, although after a few hours of sitting around, some parts became questionable.

“Hey! I think it’s actually gonna work!”

Evul and I tag-teaming the Treat-o-tron. (Note the dedication. The passion.)

Tomatoes went in, son.

Nuggets went in on it too, son.

At one point nearing the summit, we encountered some difficulty as the burger had begun to sag in some places. Getting it to maintain it’s form was quite challenging. Tensions rose…

The Oreos and cupcakes (mini banana muffins, with icing and sprinkles) were added near the end of the process. We were almost there…

…a little KD…

…and it was pretty much a wrap.
